Making money through blogging seems like a Herculean task to many.
The sheer number of ways and means to profit through your blog may cause analysis paralysis.
One pressing problem strickens most bloggers; they mistakenly believe the income streams themselves make money.
This is as silly a notion as believing a hammer can push a nail into a wall on its own.
The carpenter needs to develop the skills to effectively use the hammer towards a certain end.
You need to learn how to develop certain skills to effectively make money blogging through various income streams.
I can blog about affiliate marketing, writing eBooks, freelancing and creating online courses until the cows come home. The skills you cultivate are the true money makers. The income streams are mere channels through which you earn cash.
Do you have a blog? I have an ultimate guide to help you create a blog from scratch. If you want to build a blog and make money from it, use this comprehensive step by step guide to start a profitable blog.
5 Skills To Make Money Through Your Blog
Develop these 5 skills to make money through your blog.
1. Cultivate The Art Of Making Friends
Making friends is easy to top bloggers but painfully difficult to struggling bloggers.
Top earners seem to make friends with ease. This crowd simply gives, promotes, features and interviews other bloggers more freely than the struggling crowd.
Make friends to make bank. Help *other* bloggers make money by promoting them on social media, by tweeting their latest posts, by referring their services to folks who would be a good fit and by featuring these individuals on your blog.
If you can easily make friends – by helping others – you lay the foundation for making money through your blog.
2. Be Patiently Persistent
Being persistent is one thing. Some bloggers keep at it but do so from an impatient, expectant space.
The more prospering crowd helps people, solves problems, makes friends and enjoys the ride as they patiently and calmly persist through the ups and downs we all face as bloggers.
Develop the skill of being patiently persistent. Keep at it. Even if it doesn’t seem to be working out. Maybe you need to change directions. Or maybe you need to stay on course for a bit longer. In either case, if you calmly persist with blogging you will have no issues earning a full-time income over the long haul.
3: Be Habitually Compassionate
Top earning bloggers tend to drip with compassion.
These people are really good at feeling your pain and sharing solutions to help you experience pleasure, so you can avoid the pain.
I love helping my readers see and feel any pain they may have been avoiding because being aversive only sustains your misery. By being present with the needs, the hopes, the dreams and the sufferings of our community I can better connect with anybody who stumbles upon my blog.
Successful bloggers are human. This lot may get annoyed sometimes. But largely, if they cross your path on one of your bad days you betcha they will lend a compassionate, caring ear to help you through your struggles.
Develop the habit of being compassionate. Once you can connect with a reader’s problems and struggles they are more likely to connect with you, hire you or buy your products.
People prosper bloggers who genuinely care about their plight.

4. Sell The Dream
Profiting through blogging is not all about pain points and suffering.
Bloggers who develop the skill of selling an inspired dream generate steady profits online.
I may hit on pain points but I also sell a spectacular dream to connect with my readers.
I help people retire to a life of island hopping through smart blogging. Even if you have no intentions to travel long term you probably want to feast on that dream, at least vicariously through me.
Sell a dream through your blog. Inspire people to move into action to make their dreams come true. If you’ve yet to live your dreams just share your journey toward living your dream life. Being authentic means everything in this regard.
5. Be Charismatic
This is the toughest skill to develop because bloggers generally believe being charismatic is a quality you are born with. Not true.
I was a wallflower for 36 years of my life. I began circling the globe, slowly leaving my shell like a globetrotting turtle.
In the last year or so I noted more interviewers, podcast hosts, and interviewers mention me being charismatic. Exuding that “it” energy. Like, this gal or guy has “it”.
I developed the skill of being charismatic by recording thousands of videos. 8 years ago I was a self-conscious, tense, stiff individual, worried about how I looked and sounded on camera. I rarely filmed videos longer than 2 minutes.
Now I can crack jokes and teach blogging for 6 hours straight, as I did via my blogging audio course.
Although some are born with this skill you can develop charisma through creating videos, through running a podcast and through getting a comfortable meeting and greeting people offline.
Being a charismatic blogger magnetizes you to interviews, features, and all sorts of guest posting opportunities that help you make money through your blog.
